Anna Orlikowska
Anna Orlikowska is a Warsaw-born artist working between Amsterdam and United States. Her practice focuses on site-related works, which stretch the limits of medium of performance, installation, video, sculpture, text and sound. She is translating invisible phenomena into a material, embodied, visible form. Through the generative strategy of translating one medium into another, she is exploring the the complex relationship between the ear and the eye and its relatedness to other senses. She is investigating the physicality of sound, its site-specific relation to architecture, its impact on the body and the imagination of the listener.
Anna Orlikowska received an MFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2016) and a BFA degree from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2013). She was awarded with prizes and scholarships: Mondriaan Fund Young Talent (2017), Clare Rosen and Samuel Edes Foundation Prize for Emerging Artists, Finalist Award (2016), Adam Mickiewicz Institute Grant (2016), Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds— Van Eck-Vollgraff Fonds (2014), as well as Full Merit New Artist Society Scholarship Award, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2014). She was an artist-in-residence at EKWC (European Ceramic Workcenter), Oisterwijk (2024), Fonderie Darling, Montreal, Canada (2022), at the Residency Unlimited in Brooklyn, New York (2017) as well as at LES Studio Program in New York City (2017). As a performer, she participated in the works of the artists such as Lou Malozzi (The Arts Club Chicago, 2016) and Andrea Geyer (Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, 2012).
