Soundscape Art for the Young Musician Open Call
A project for the Erasmus Plus application
Objective: for young musicians, music students (cca. 15 -18 yrs) to soundscapes in the sense of sound ecology.
Task: to create soundscape compositions in small groups, using field recordings and acoustic instruments together. The use of improvisation is optional and recommended. The use of visuals is possible.
Participants: 4x5 young people aged 15 to 18 from 4 countries. We enhance the collaboration of trained instrumentalists and electronic musicians.
Each group will be accompanied and led by a mentor teacher with experience in music, sound ecology, sound recording and studio work (at least at a basic level), and an appropriate level of English. The groups are not only representative of different cultures from one country to another, but also have different soundscapes in their environment. Suggestions: nature - wetland (Szigetköz, Hungary); big city (e.g. Berlin, Vienna or Prague); seaside (e.g. Italy, Slovenia, Croatia or the Baltic Sea in Poland); mountains (e.g. Romania - Transylvania, Tatra – Slovakia or Poland, or an Alpine region.).
Schedule: 1 year, from September 2025 to August 2026.
Sessions:
Monthly online seminars throughout the year.
One week of collaborative work in autumn, winter, spring and summer in four different locations – each devided (cca) into 3 days of field recording and collection of material, plus 3 days composing, editing, rehearsals. Final day of performance, and recording for online documentation.
We are looking for partners in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, and/or Italy, Germany, Austria, Romania, Slovakia via the Central/Cross European Network for Sonic Ecology, WFAE, Waldorf schools, music schools etc.
We are looking for a delegated mentor teacher, or small group of mentor teachers, from each country to do all the local organisation. The mentor teachers will make joint decisions on how to run the project. The aspects and methods of the contents, both ecologically and artistically will be negotiated in details.
The application will be submitted by Tű Fokán Art Foundation, Budapest by 1st March 2025.
Our deadline to find partners is 1st December 2024.
